The National Bank of Moldova published an update on a meeting between Governor Anca Dragu and European Union Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko focused on the central bank’s role in Moldova’s EU accession process and progress in modernising the financial sector, with the parties reaffirming continued cooperation. The discussion emphasised Moldova’s integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), intended to enable faster, safer and more accessible euro transactions for citizens and businesses, alongside ongoing legislative alignment. It also highlighted the National Bank of Moldova’s involvement in negotiation chapters covering financial services, monetary policy and the framework for effective participation in the EU internal market, including support via European Commission technical assistance instruments such as Twinning and TAIEX and cooperation with DG FISMA, the European Central Bank, the European Banking Authority and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.
