The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) has published the final report of its “Insurance and Cybersecurity” working group, summarising technical discussions on cybersecurity in the SUSEP-supervised sector and the challenges and opportunities arising from the digital economy. Established by an August 2024 SUSEP ordinance and coordinated by the Director of Prudential Regulation and Economic Studies, the working group created a dialogue channel with insurers, policyholders, brokers, reinsurers, insurtechs, specialists and public authorities. It operated through two thematic subgroups focused on aligning the sector’s cybersecurity frameworks with Brazil’s National Cybersecurity Policy and on developing insurance solutions for the digital economy beyond standalone cyber risk. The report concludes that escalating attack sophistication and complex digital infrastructures require ongoing investment in robust security measures to protect assets and customer privacy and to mitigate associated operational risks.
