The Central Bank of Chile has formally opened the commemoration of its 100th anniversary and set out a year-long agenda of initiatives combining academic events, citizen-facing activities and school-focused financial education, culminating in a protocol ceremony on 22 August 2025. Planned initiatives include a Master’s thesis competition for Chilean universities with research themes such as inflation dynamics, international finance and financial innovation, and climate change and environmental degradation. The programme also schedules the Sixth Statistics Conference in June followed by the Financial Information Forum, and the twenty-eighth Annual Conference in November, which will cover topics including future challenges for central banking and feature international guests. Public activities include the 100-word short story contest “Historias de Peso” launching on 14 May, an exhibition at Centro Cultural La Moneda from 5 August to 30 November featuring a significant part of the Bank’s art collection and selected numismatic pieces, and opening the Bank’s building to the public for Heritage Day on 25 May. Between April and October, the Bank will run Financial Education Olympics with Inacap for III and IV Medio students nationwide, alongside other recurring education initiatives. The programme is framed around the Bank’s creation on 22 August 1925 and its later institutional milestones, including the 1989 Organic Law that established technical and patrimonial autonomy.
