The Central Bank of Uruguay issued a public notice, in response to citizen enquiries, confirming that the UYU 10 commemorative coin issued in 2015 to mark the Bicentennial of the 1815 Land Regulation remains in circulation and continues to be worth its UYU 10 nominal value. It also clarified that it does not buy back the coin, regardless of any collectible value it may have in the numismatic market. The coin was presented on 3 September 2015 and a total of 10 million pieces were minted for ordinary circulation. The obverse features Uruguay’s national coat of arms and the legend “República Oriental del Uruguay” with the minting year, while the reverse shows figures representing beneficiaries of the Land Regulation alongside the phrase “Los más infelices serán los más privilegiados”, surrounded by the inscription “Bicentenario del Reglamento de Tierras de 1815” and the UYU 10 denomination.
