The Bank of Albania published a press release on Governor Gent Sejko’s end-of-year meeting with journalists, experts, and media executives, which also served as the “Governor’s Award for the Best Diploma Thesis 2025” ceremony. The event combined a review of economic and financial developments and the central bank’s communication priorities with the announcement of three student thesis award winners. In his remarks, Sejko stressed the role of clear and accurate communication and media collaboration in supporting transparency and public understanding of monetary and financial decision-making. He described the Albanian economy in 2025 as showing stable growth, a resilient labour market, and low inflation despite external uncertainty, and characterised the Bank’s monetary policy stance as prudent and stability-oriented. The release also referenced the Bank of Albania’s centennial as a milestone for reflecting on its role in state-building and financial stability, and highlighted the media’s role in combating financial disinformation and promoting economic and financial literacy. The Bank awarded prizes to three theses selected from 38 undergraduate and master’s submissions: first prize to Migena Musli (Frankfurt School of Finance & Management) on Albania’s path to SEPA and related compliance and operational challenges; second prize to Eva Billa (University of Tirana) on monetary policy effects on work-related income in 2014–2024; and third prize to Eris Hoti (King’s College London) on bank size and competition in Albania using the Panzar and Rosse model.
