The Bank of Canada has named a joint Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) team as the winner of its counterfeit deterrence award, recognising work to prevent and deter bank note counterfeiting in Canada. The CBSA and RCMP team members Curtis Dolliver, Annie Lachapelle and Philippe Sincennes (CBSA) and Corporal Mitch Thompson (RCMP) were credited with disrupting the smuggling of counterfeit bank notes and bank note components into Canada, leading to the arrest of a major counterfeiter in Nova Scotia. The award highlighted interagency cooperation across provincial lines and contributions to protecting Canada’s financial safety and welfare. The winners were honoured at the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Summit in Victoria on 12 August 2025. The Bank of Canada has presented the award annually since 2004 to recognise outstanding achievements by criminal justice professionals and educators involved in counterfeit prevention and deterrence.
