Belgium Financial Services and Markets Authority renewed its public warning about online fraudulent trading platforms that lure investors with promises of quick and easy earnings but can result in significant losses. It identified 10 websites that were putting consumers in contact with fraudulent trading platforms and advised the public not to respond to offers from 15 named trading platforms, which it has added to its list of fraudulent trading platforms. The warning covers sites and brands including Argentis Capora, Claire Marchèòn, Riche Patrimesse, Bitelity, DataEdgeFX and Torvex Finance. The regulator said its list is not exhaustive and is updated frequently, and pointed consumers to check whether a firm holds the necessary authorizations before using its services. For people who have already been targeted, it advised stopping all transactions and contact with the platform, notifying their bank, reporting the matter to the FSMA and police, preserving evidence of communications and payments, and remaining alert to follow-on "recovery room" scams that charge fees to supposedly recover lost funds.
