The Canadian Bankers Association has refreshed the fraud prevention content in its Your Money Students programme, a free non-commercial financial literacy seminar for Grade 10 to 12 students across Canada. The update aims to help young Canadians better identify scams and frauds targeting them, aligning with the Financial Literacy Month theme of “Talk About Money”. The expanded content covers tactics including employment and job scams that can draw job seekers into money laundering schemes, phishing and related variants (smishing and vishing), online gaming scams, catfishing, and artificial intelligence-generated scams such as fake voices and identities. Developed in collaboration with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, the programme is delivered in English and French by volunteer bankers and continues to cover budgeting, saving and investing, responsible use of credit, and keeping money safe.
