The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced the selection of Will Giles as Principal Deputy Chief Counsel. In the role, Giles will act as the OCC Law Department’s chief operating officer, overseeing planning and management of the office’s operations, and will support the Chief Counsel on legal analysis and advisory work related to bank supervision, enforcement, administrative, litigation, and licensing actions. Giles most recently served as Of Counsel at a major law firm advising banking organizations and other financial companies on bank regulation, and previously served as special counsel at the Federal Reserve Board, where he advised senior officials on novel and complex applications, led interagency rulemakings, and worked on banking and administrative law matters. He also served on a senior staff committee involved in establishing supervisory ratings for the largest, most systemically significant US banking organizations.
