Croatia's Ministry of Finance published an update on the “Support for Sustainable Finance” conference in Zagreb, co-organised with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, the Croatian National Bank, the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the University of Zagreb, with support from the European Commission’s representation in Croatia. The programme focused on the European Commission’s Omnibus package presented on 26 February 2025, framed as a simplification of European Union sustainability and investment rules. Opening remarks highlighted the policy objective of reducing unnecessary administrative burdens while remaining aligned with the European Green Deal. Two panels then addressed corporate transition to sustainability and the financial sector’s contribution, including practical issues such as stimulating demand for green financial products, aligning national rules with the EU framework and obtaining reliable sustainability data. The conference also set out green public procurement as a tool to incorporate environmental criteria across procurement processes and introduced an EU Technical Support Instrument project aimed at helping entities that are or will become subject to sustainability reporting. Initial plans were presented for a future Sustainability Centre intended to serve as a central point for sustainability reporting.
