The Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Estonia confirmed Andrus Alber as Deputy Governor, appointing him for a five-year term beginning in the second half of January 2026. He will replace Deputy Governor Veiko Tali, whose term ends at the end of December. Alber was nominated by Governor Madis Müller, who highlighted his experience in the financial sector as well as prior work at the International Monetary Fund and at the central bank. The Supervisory Board also moved forward its October decision to nominate current Deputy Governor Ülo Kaasik as the next Governor by submitting the nomination to the President of the Republic of Estonia for confirmation, as Governor Müller’s term ends on 6 June 2026. The central bank indicated that the choice of the second Deputy Governor will probably be announced in spring 2026, and that it will publish its financial stability review on 26 November.
