The National Bank of Ukraine published an annual update on its special account opened on 24 February 2022 to support Ukraine’s defense forces, reporting that it allocated over UAH 88 billion for defense needs in 2025. Over the same year, the account received nearly UAH 97 billion, including nearly UAH 20 billion in December 2025, and the balance stood at over UAH 24.7 billion as of 1 January 2026. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, nearly UAH 146.8 billion has been credited to the account, including almost UAH 125 billion remitted from abroad in foreign currencies. Cumulative allocations since February 2022 exceeded UAH 122.6 billion, led by over UAH 69,390 million for the Defence Procurement Agency and over UAH 36,666 million for the Ministry of Defense, with further amounts directed to the National Guard, National Police, State Border Guard Service, State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection, State Emergency Service, National Security and Defense Council, State Special Transport Service, Security Service, military units, Defence Intelligence, and regional military administrations; some previously unused funds were returned in late December 2025, including UAH 3.8 million, UAH 60.8 million, and UAH 7.

National Bank of Ukraine reports over UAH 88 billion transferred from its special account to defense needs in 2025
