The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) announced it will issue the Bing Wu Year of the Horse coin set, the tenth release in the third series of the Chinese Zodiac Commemorative Coin Set, with sales conducted by the Bank of Taiwan (BOT) online and through its branch network. Online orders run from 10:00 a.m. on January 6 to midnight on January 12, 2026, while in-branch purchases begin on January 29, 2026. A total of 90,000 sets will be sold at NT$2,450 each, split between 50,000 sets for online sales and the remainder via BOT branches. Online purchases are limited to one order per purchaser for up to five sets, and branch sales are first-come, first-served with a limit of two sets per purchaser at a time. If online orders exceed the quota, BOT will run a computer-generated lottery and post results on its website before 2:00 p.m. on January 13, 2026, with payment due by 3:30 p.m. on January 19, 2026; paid orders can be collected at the designated BOT branch within one month starting from January 29, 2026. Each set contains a one-ounce silver coin (face value NT$100) featuring a partially gold-plated pair of galloping horses on the obverse and Taipei 101 New Year fireworks on the reverse, plus a copper-alloy coin (face value NT$10) showing a geometric horse silhouette on the obverse and a colorized hydrangea design on the reverse.
