De Nederlandsche Bank has announced that its president, Olaf Sleijpen, will become chair of the Network for Greening the Financial System on 1 July 2026 for a two-year term. The appointment was unanimously approved by NGFS members on the recommendation of the Steering Committee, and he will succeed Sabine Mauderer. The NGFS brings together more than 150 central banks and supervisors that work on managing climate and nature risks in the financial system. In comments accompanying the announcement, Sleijpen said the main challenge is to translate those risks into how authorities assess and manage risks for both the financial system and individual institutions. The release also notes that, under Mauderer, the NGFS developed into a global network and advanced the integration of climate, adaptation and nature considerations into financial risk management.
