The National Bank of Moldova published remarks from Governor Anca Dragu’s participation as a special guest at the “Entrepreneurship Academy – Women of Moldova 2025”, where she spoke about gender equality and the role of women in Moldova’s economic and social transformation. She pointed to recent improvements in Moldova’s standing in the Global Gender Gap Index while cautioning that gender gaps remain across key areas. Dragu cited Global Gender Gap Index data placing Moldova 7th out of 148 countries, up from 13th in 2024 and 19th in 2023, and noted that disparities persist across the index’s four dimensions: economy, education, health and politics. She also highlighted the central bank’s work to support female leadership, including the “FinanciarELE” initiative, and disclosed internal representation metrics of 64% women among staff and 53% women in leadership roles, which she said OMFIF assessments place among the strongest gender representation levels in Europe.
