The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) published its first Regulatory Simplification milestone report, reporting that it has removed more than 9,240 pages of regulation since the start of 2025 and inviting feedback on further measures to make regulatory requirements clearer and easier to navigate while maintaining consumer protections. Key initiatives include improving access to regulatory information through a redesigned ASIC website that removes more than 9,000 pages of content and piloting “regulatory roadmaps” for small-company directors and financial advice providers. Work to reduce complexity in regulatory instruments includes pilots to consolidate and simplify 23 legislative instruments by at least 65 pages, alongside 181 pages already removed from ASIC guides. ASIC also set out service changes to make interactions easier, including moving more “paper-only” documents to email lodgement and enabling electronic signatures on all forms by 1 October 2025, while continuing to contribute to law reform discussions with Treasury. Feedback on the initiatives and broader simplification proposals is open until 15 October 2025.
