The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has set the principal themes for the 9th edition of World Investor Week, its global investor education and protection campaign running from 6 to 12 October 2025 with support from the G20 Presidency. The 2025 programme will focus on Technology and Digital Finance, Artificial Intelligence, and Fraud and Scam Prevention, alongside activity on crypto assets and the basics of investing. IOSCO framed the Technology and Digital Finance theme around risks from algorithm-driven services that may not reflect an investor’s personal risk tolerance, and noted that imitative trading and fractional trading are not substitutes for portfolio diversification and preparedness for unforeseen events. The Artificial Intelligence theme highlights both enhanced financial services and associated risks, including potential exploitation of personal data, while the Fraud and Scam Prevention theme focuses on increasingly sophisticated scams, from phishing to “pig butchering”, that exploit investor trends. The themes align with IOSCO’s Roadmap for Retail Investor Online Safety, and the release notes that the 2024 campaign involved 132 entities across 118 jurisdictions. World Investor Week 2025 will again be supported by partner initiatives, including the Financial Planning Standards Board’s World Financial Planning Day on 8 October and a World Federation of Exchanges campaign encouraging members to “Ring the Bell” for the week.
