The Central Bank of Nicaragua published its first-quarter 2025 Remittances Report, showing inbound remittances of USD 1,441.3 million, a 26.3% year-on-year increase (USD 300.4 million more than the first quarter of 2024). The average remittance received rose to USD 264.3, up 8.8% year on year, while the number of transactions increased 16.1%. By source country, the United States remained dominant at USD 1,208.0 million (83.8% of the total), followed by Costa Rica at USD 107.4 million (7.5%), Spain at USD 77.6 million (5.4%), Panama at USD 14.8 million (1.0%), and Canada at USD 7.4 million (0.5%), together accounting for 98.2% of total inflows. Year-on-year growth in flows was 29.8% from the United States (USD 277.3 million), 18.7% from Costa Rica (USD 16.9 million), and 12.1% from Spain (USD 8.4 million). On the receiving side, Managua accounted for 25.7% of remittances, followed by Matagalpa (10.8%), Chinandega (9.1%), León (7.4%), Nueva Segovia (6.8%), and Estelí (6.8%), which together represented 66.7% of the total received in the quarter.
