Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) held an Islamic finance education programme under the Sahabat Ibu Cakap Literasi Keuangan Syariah (SICANTIKS) initiative in Palembang, South Sumatra, aimed at improving sharia financial literacy and inclusion among women and micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) actors and preparing participants to serve as community financial literacy agents. The event, themed “Perempuan Berdaya, Masyarakat Sejahtera”, brought together 100 members of South Sumatra’s Family Welfare Movement (PKK) team and 400 PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) MSME facilitators in person, alongside 4,917 PNM facilitators online from across Sumatra. OJK used the session to underscore women’s role as a priority target segment for financial education and to warn participants about rising digital financial crimes, including illegal online lending, fraudulent investments, and scams using deepfake artificial intelligence. OJK said the SICANTIKS programme is a collaboration with PNM and will continue throughout 2025 across multiple regions, including Greater Jakarta, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. To support expansion, OJK has prepared education modules for sharia financial literacy ambassadors covering sharia finance, prudent personal financial management, and vigilance against financial crime in the digital era.
