The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic published results from its Continuous National Labour Force Survey indicating that the labour market added 121,164 net employed people year on year in April–June 2025, with gains driven by higher formal employment alongside a decline in informal work. Over the same period, both the unemployment rate and the informality rate fell. Total employment reached 5,123,548 in the second quarter of 2025, while the employment rate rose to 62.8%, up 1.0 percentage point year on year. Formal employment increased by 164,598 and informal employment declined by 43,434, bringing the informality rate to 54.0%, down 2.2 percentage points from a year earlier. The open unemployment rate (SU1) eased to 5.0% from 5.3%, and the overall labour force participation rate rose to 66.1%, up 0.8 percentage point; 15–39 year olds accounted for 82.5% of new jobs, university-educated workers for 86,532 jobs (71.4%), and job gains were 78,440 for men and 42,724 for women.
