The Central Bank of Nigeria has opened a competitive call for researchers to submit proposals for its CBN Knowledge Acceleration Programme (CBN-KAP) thematic workshops in Abuja in August 2025. Selected participants will attend workshops focused on peer engagement to strengthen proposals, with the immediate aim of producing working papers that can develop into published research. Proposals must indicate one thematic area: (i) development, covering growth, income and employment; (ii) international finance, covering internal and external balances, capital flows, domestic resource mobilisation, exchange rate dynamics and asset pricing; or (iii) regulation, bank structure and competition, covering monetary economics, behavioural finance, fintech and digital assets, illicit financial flows, payment systems, and competition and network externalities. Submissions are limited to two single-spaced pages and should focus on the “what” and “why”, with selection prioritising work that advances understanding of systemic risks from nonbank financial intermediaries and related implications for monetary policy transmission, supervision and financial stability, including issues such as differential fund flows and reserve stability, off-balance sheet activities, risk-based capital requirements, and audit or detection mechanisms under asymmetric information. Submissions open on 15 July and close at midnight on 22 July 2025, with successful applicants to be informed by 30 July. Workshops are scheduled for 4–5 August, 7–8 August and 11–12 August 2025.
