The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo was represented by Deputy Governor for Banking Operations Dardan Fusha on a panel organised by AAB College as part of Global Money Week on the role of digital money in combating tax evasion. Fusha linked the expansion of digital payments to higher efficiency, security and transparency, arguing that greater use of digital payment instruments increases transaction traceability and supports efforts to tackle the informal economy and tax evasion. He pointed to the central bank’s ongoing work on integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and the development of a fast payments system with the Bank of Italy using the TIPS Clone platform, intended to enable faster, safer and lower-cost payments and a more transparent environment for monitoring financial flows. The discussion also covered widening access to payments infrastructure, including for non-bank payment service providers, to increase competition and innovation, support financial inclusion and reduce cash usage.
