The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission appointed Katherine Reilly as Acting Inspector General, elevating its current Deputy Inspector General to lead the agency’s Office of Inspector General following the retirement of Deborah Jeffrey, who has served as Inspector General since 2023. The Office of Inspector General is an independent oversight unit with a dual reporting relationship to the Commission and Congress under the Inspector General Act of 1978.
