The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili took part in a high-level international conference on “Growth and Economic Resilience in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (CESEE) in a more fragmented world”, organised by the Croatian National Bank in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Ahead of the conference, he joined a closed-door meeting of regional and wider central bank governors with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, where he presented key developments and reforms in Kosovo’s financial sector and referenced the successful completion of cooperation programmes and a positive assessment in the latest review. The conference brought together senior representatives of international financial institutions, central bank governors, finance ministers, academics and private sector participants, with discussions covering macroeconomic policy adaptation, strengthening CESEE’s role in the European Single Market, structural reforms to boost competitiveness and productivity, and employment and income policies in the era of artificial intelligence. On the margins, Ismaili held bilateral meetings including with Alfred Kammer, Director of the IMF’s European Department, and met Croatian National Bank Governor Boris Vujčić, highlighting cooperation under a European Union project on cash management reforms and combating currency counterfeiting.
