Ecuador's Superintendence of Banks joined the Global Money Week (GMW) initiative, launching the campaign with an inaugural event in Quito under the 2026 theme “Smart money speaks”, aimed at strengthening financial education, particularly for children and young people. Superintendent Roberto Romero von Buchwald framed financial education as a day-to-day practice and delivered a presentation titled “How to take care of your money and who you should not give it to”, setting out practical recommendations to help prevent fraud and encourage informed financial decisions. The event also featured contributions from Daniela Moya (Financial and Monetary Policy and Regulation Board), Marco Antonio Rodríguez (Asobanca) and consultant Juan Carlos De la Hoz, who addressed issues linked to regulation, economic inclusion and regional development. An agenda of public-facing activities, including educational stands and awareness-raising spaces for different audiences, is scheduled to run from 16 to 20 March 2026 as part of Global Money Week.
