The Ontario Securities Commission announced that Sergiy Kaspirovych pleaded guilty to providing false or misleading information during an OSC investigation, contrary to section 122(1)(a) of the Securities Act. The Ontario Court of Justice sentenced him to 18 months’ probation and 150 hours of community service. The OSC said that between March 16, 2023 and April 1, 2023, Kaspirovych provided forged electronic documents supporting his registration as a scholarship plan dealing representative, including two files purporting to be criminal record checks. The investigation found the documents falsely indicated he had no criminal record, while he in fact had extensive criminal convictions dating back to 2010; the OSC acknowledged assistance from the Toronto Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
