The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic published the latest results of its quarterly Continuous National Labour Force Survey for July–September 2025, showing employment up 2.4% year on year, or 119,965 net additional employed, to 5,149,829 workers. The employment rate rose to 63.1%, while open unemployment (SU1) was unchanged at 5.3% and the overall informality rate fell to 54.6%. Formal employment accounted for 88,583 of the net increase (73.8%), with informal employment up 31,382 (26.2%). Broader labour underutilisation (SU3) declined to 9.3% from 9.9% a year earlier, and inactivity fell by 67,748 to 2,724,763, taking the inactivity rate down to 33.4% and lifting the overall labour force participation rate to 66.6%. The net employment gains were concentrated in women (98,626, mainly aged 25–39), and the survey reported 68,327 of the additional employed had university education and 52,358 had secondary education; the Bank also linked the period’s labour market performance to a challenging international environment weighing on private investment alongside below-average execution of public investment and moderating economic growth.
