The Jordan Securities Commission, in cooperation with the Amman Stock Exchange and the Securities Depository Center, hosted a delegation of finance students from the University of Jordan for an educational visit aimed at linking academic study with the practical work environment in the financial sector. The programme introduced students to the Commission’s objectives, functions and powers, including its supervisory arrangements, investigation, inspection and audit powers, the role of the Board of Commissioners in taking regulatory measures, the securities market framework, the main legislation governing the sector, and the Securities Investor Protection Fund. The visit also included presentations on the Securities Depository Center’s role in registering, safeguarding and depositing securities, maintaining ownership records, transferring ownership, handling clearing and settlement procedures, applying ownership restrictions and processing transfers exempt from trading. A separate session covered the Amman Stock Exchange’s operating model, key developments and future projects, as well as trading procedures and the main features of its electronic trading system. During the visit, the Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission highlighted the value of building scientific and practical skills, particularly in finance, accounting and financial technology.
