The National Bank of Georgia has launched the collection and publication of sex-disaggregated data on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), formally integrating a new Sex-disaggregated MSME Data Framework into its regulatory reporting. The framework introduces a common definition of a woman entrepreneur and a standard reporting template to enable consistent bank reporting on MSME financing to women-owned and women-led businesses. Developed with the Investors Council, commercial banks and the Banking Association, the initiative is intended to address gaps in the availability of sex-disaggregated MSME data in Georgia and to create a reliable statistical base for monitoring women entrepreneurs’ access to finance. The National Bank of Georgia also links the new reporting to banks’ ability to analyse financing patterns and tailor products to female entrepreneurs, as well as to improved transparency and evidence-based policymaking. Banks have already prepared the first reports using 2024 data, and regular quarterly reporting is scheduled to begin in 2026.
