The National Bank of Moldova released banking-system cash operations data for January–July 2025, showing that cumulative cash withdrawals from bank cash desks exceeded cumulative cash receipts by MDL 3,426.0 million. Cash receipts rose by 5.3% year on year to MDL 103,130.8 million, while cash withdrawals increased by 5.8% to MDL 106,556.8 million. Receipts from the sale of consumer goods increased by MDL 2,548.6 million (4.5%) to MDL 59,569.2 million, representing 57.8% of total cash receipts, alongside a MDL 1,615.0 million (18.2%) rise in cash credited to individuals’ current and deposit accounts. Offsetting movements included a MDL 168.3 million (12.2%) decline in receipts in the form of temporary financial assistance and payments to statutory funds, and a MDL 141.5 million (1.7%) fall in receipts from enterprises providing other services; the reported totals include transactions in commemorative coins.
