At the XXIII Annual Conference on Insurance Regulation and Supervision in Latin America, the Argentina Superintendency of Insurance’s Superintendent, Guillermo Plate, set out an agenda to simplify and modernise insurance regulation, arguing for a deep review of the current framework to remove bureaucratic practices that hinder market growth. Hosted in Buenos Aires with the Association of Insurance Supervisors of Latin America and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, the event brought together more than 120 representatives from 17 countries. Plate highlighted a recent amendment to Article 25 of the RGAA that removed unnecessary requirements related to the insurance policy front page (Frente de Póliza), describing it as developed with industry input and aimed at reducing administrative burden while focusing supervision on substantive risks. He also said the authority is reviewing rules to eliminate overregulation and that, under the current management, the operating authorisations of four insurers have been revoked, while calling on market participants and intermediaries to engage in the reform process.
