The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission concluded its two-year nationwide Roadshow on Capital Formation for MSMEs and Startups, promoting the capital market as a financing option for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and reporting more than PHP 2 billion in fresh funds raised for small businesses. The final leg was hosted by the SEC Office for the Advancement of Strategic Investments in SMEs (OASIS) at the SEC Headquarters in Makati City. Launched in February 2023 in Davao City, the roadshow visited 21 cities and reached over 3,000 onsite MSME participants and around 60,000 online participants, with discussions covering financing routes including crowdfunding and initial public offerings. As of 31 December 2024, 361 companies had tapped registered crowdfunding intermediaries for 1,212 projects, raising PHP 2.243 billion, and at least 358 companies had signified interest in crowdfunding activities; the SEC is also monitoring 16 leads for public listing together with the Philippine Stock Exchange. The Commission linked the initiative to achieving and exceeding its 2024 “888@88” goal of at least 888 companies tapping the capital market.
