The Brazil Securities Commission (CVM), alongside the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association (ANBIMA) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), announced a partnership with the Central Bank of Brazil to integrate and expand the Aprender Valor programme for financial education in public and private schools. The programme will be extended to high school teachers and students from 2026, with the expansion expected to reach up to 7.8 million 15 to 17 year olds enrolled in around 29,000 high schools. Aprender Valor, created by the Central Bank of Brazil, has already reached 25,000 schools, 99% of which are public, covering more than 5 million students. For high school teachers, the initiative will offer training in three formats: self-paced online, hybrid, and in-person, aimed at improving access for schools with limited technology. ANBIMA developed the pedagogical content, CVM led initial coordination among partners, and Sebrae will coordinate the in-person and hybrid delivery, while the Central Bank of Brazil and CVM conducted the technical review of the materials. The programme will also provide ready-to-use lessons via the Aprender Valor platform, organised into 12 thematic school projects that connect financial education with mandatory high school subjects in line with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), and referenced work to develop specific materials for Indigenous peoples in cooperation with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). The high school expansion is scheduled to begin in 2026, while the Indigenous-focused materials are described as being under development.
