The Bank of Lithuania signed an agreement with Lithuania’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) under the Ministry of National Defence to deepen interinstitutional cooperation on cybersecurity, including closer coordination on cyber threat information and incident response in the financial sector. Under the agreement, the Bank of Lithuania will join the NCSC-coordinated National Cyber Incident Management Platform, enabling real-time exchange of information on cyber threats and incidents and coordinated response. Building on the central bank’s role as a single reporting point for information and communication technology incidents in finance, the arrangement enables automatic sharing of financial-sector cyber incident data with the NCSC to support faster identification and more efficient incident management. The agreement also establishes communication channels for potential threats or large-scale cyber crises, with the NCSC providing expert assistance, monitoring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, and organising joint exercises and training. The NCSC described the Bank of Lithuania as the first supervisory authority to join the platform and linked the cooperation to implementation of Lithuania’s Law on Cybersecurity, the NIS2 Directive and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), with other national institutions expected to follow.
