The Financial System Supervisory Authority of Bolivia (ASFI) issued an alert after identifying a fraudulent website, asfi-renta.com, that unlawfully uses the authority’s name and institutional image to deceive the public and illegally capture funds, including through paid advertising on social media. ASFI said the platform has no legal basis to provide financial intermediation or investment services in Bolivia because it is neither licensed nor registered with the supervisor, and it uses official logos, technical terminology, and AI-enabled videos and voice cloning to simulate legitimacy. The authority described the scam as operating pyramid-style schemes that promise guaranteed returns and carry an imminent risk of total loss, and reminded that unauthorised financial intermediation is a public-order offence under Financial Services Law No. 393 and the Criminal Code, with penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment. ASFI urged the public not to share personal data or credentials or make bank transfers to the site’s administrators, and noted that its official digital channels operate exclusively under government domains (.gob.bo) and do not promote direct investment schemes or private capital management.
