The Bank of France and the French space agency CNES have launched several demonstrations of Earth-observation data services selected under the space component of the France 2030 investment plan, aiming to give French public institutions earlier economic signals than conventional statistics that can take months to become available. The demonstrations will be delivered by the winning consortia Kermap, Capgemini, GEOFIT and ITK, and Quantcube Technology and Kayrros, based on needs expressed by institutional users including the Bank of France, Insee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, regional authorities and the French Economic Observatory (OFCE). Example use cases include agriculture indicators such as crop mapping, yield estimation and climate-change impacts, land-use data including detection of progress on major construction sites, industrial indicators such as regional cement and steel production in France and national-level metrics for the United States, China and the United Kingdom, and monitoring of aggregates including regional GDP and inflation in France and GDP internationally. Participating public institutions will be able to provide feedback after the first nine months so the consortia can refine the solutions and better align them with operational needs.
