The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched a new AED100 banknote made of polymer, introducing new design elements and advanced anti-counterfeiting features as part of its Third Issuance of the National Currency Project. The note retains the existing denomination’s red colour characteristics and incorporates the UAE nation brand using advanced printing techniques. The front depicts the Um Al Quwain National Fort, while the reverse features the Port of Fujairah and the Etihad Rail network. Security features include SPARK Flow® DIMENSIONS and KINEGRAM COLORS® multi-coloured security chip technology; prominent Braille symbols have also been added to support blind and visually impaired users. Polymer notes are described as more durable and sustainable than paper, lasting two or more times longer in circulation. The new AED100 banknote enters circulation alongside the existing AED100 note from 24 March 2025, and banks and exchange houses are instructed to programme cash deposit machines and counting devices to accept the new banknote alongside existing paper and polymer banknotes.
