The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission published an update on its “Restaurants with Insurance Protection” initiative, framing it as an embedded insurance approach to raise safety standards and strengthen consumer confidence in the restaurant sector. The programme is positioned as a way to integrate insurance protection into everyday economic activity by linking risk cover more directly to business and service activities across the supply chain. The Office highlighted restaurants’ growing take-up of insurance that covers both property and third-party liability, describing this as a core element of restaurant operations alongside food quality, ambience and service. The initiative targets a national market of more than 320,000 restaurant operators and over 1.2 million jobs, and the Office noted that more than 20 restaurants in Bangkok, major tourist destinations and abroad have already prioritised comprehensive cover; chef Thitithat “Chef Ton” Thassanacharoen also linked insurance adoption to operator responsibility and improved customer care.
