State Bank of Vietnam Deputy Governor Nguyễn Ngọc Cảnh held a working session with the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City Banking University (HUB), endorsing the university’s reported progress and setting out areas for closer coordination. The SBV indicated it will support HUB’s strategic and professional plans, including steps linked to financial autonomy. HUB presented its 2024–2025 results, including meeting all criteria under the Ministry of Education and Training’s university evaluation standards (Circular 01/2024), a permanent staff of 583 (including foreign experts), and a teaching workforce with 63% professors and PhDs. The university also cited three campuses totalling nearly 12 hectares, a new 6,000 m² facility in Vũng Tàu, completion of an AUN-QA institutional assessment in September with final procedures ongoing, 108 international strategic partners, and a sustained 99% enrolment rate. The Deputy Governor highlighted HUB’s enrolment and quality assurance work, noted its position among 36 institutions permitted to continue independent training nationwide, and recognised that the university has met requirements for autonomy over recurrent and investment spending. Looking ahead, the Deputy Governor asked HUB to develop concrete plans to further leverage its strengths, including exploring the establishment of member schools such as technology, finance, languages and law. The SBV will direct its Finance and Accounting Department to coordinate support for HUB’s implementation work, while HUB’s leadership committed to complying with Resolution 71 and to completing organisational and staffing arrangements.
