Estonia's Financial Supervision Authority (Finantsinspektsioon) held a high-level international conference for the financial sector on 8 October, bringing together decision-makers from 15 countries to discuss issues affecting financial-sector functioning and economic competitiveness, including simplifying regulation and protecting against cyber risks. Management Board Chair Kilvar Kessler highlighted Estonia’s experience in countering cyber attacks and managing technological risks, and linked the authority’s work on cyber risk mitigation with efforts to simplify financial-industry regulation so that rules do not impede development and innovation. The event drew 200 participants from Estonia and abroad, including senior representatives from European financial supervisors, central banks, large commercial banks, and financial firms. Finantsinspektsioon indicated the conference will become an annual tradition, with the next edition to be hosted in Warsaw by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.
