The Isle of Man Treasury announced that amendments to the Island’s export control legislation have entered into force, updating the Export Control Order 2008, Council Regulation (EC) No. 428/2009 and Regulation (EU) 2019/125 as they apply in the Isle of Man. The changes are intended to reflect international standards and recent UK and EU policy updates. The amendments update controls on exports of conventional weapons in line with the Wassenaar Arrangement, revise country listings to reflect the UK’s lifting of the arms embargo on Armenia and Azerbaijan, introduce new controls covering electronics and semiconductor manufacturing equipment and special materials, and align the list of goods that could be used for capital punishment or torture with corresponding EU controls. The Treasury also pointed exporters to the UK’s consolidated list of strategic military and dual-use items requiring export authorisation and noted that open general export licences have been updated.
