Albania's Ministry of Finance reported that Minister Petrit Malaj took part in a meeting of the Joint Executive Committee overseeing the cooperation framework between the Government of Albania and the United Nations, where implementation of the 2022–2026 framework and results achieved to date were reviewed. The meeting also marked the start of preparations for the next cooperation framework for 2027–2031, as 2026 concludes the current programme. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the meeting reiterated a focus on cooperation aimed at strengthening human capital, supporting sustainable growth and consolidating democratic institutions. Malaj highlighted United Nations support across areas including economic development, tourism, environment, health, security and social protection, and linked progress to delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda. He also pointed to reforms in fiscal policy, public finance management and fiscal consolidation as creating budget space for investment in social protection, infrastructure, communities and climate resilience while maintaining macroeconomic stability, and noted the need for deeper reforms, smarter investment and stronger coordination, particularly in the context of European Union integration.
