The Central Bank of Uruguay has been certified under the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-bribery Management Systems standard by LSQA, becoming the first public body to receive this certification. The certification reflects the bank’s implementation and maintenance of a system designed to prevent, detect and manage bribery risks across its activities. The scope covers a wide set of processes, including corporate governance, monetary policy, financial stability, payments system oversight, reserve asset management and debt service, information generation and advisory work, stakeholder engagement, risk management and continuous improvement, procurement and accounting, budgeting controls, technology services, security and infrastructure, records management, legal-notarial processes, human capital management, communications and internal audit. The certification process involved an extensive assessment of policies and practices. The central bank also reminded external counterparties of its confidential reporting channel for suspected bribery or corruption and pointed to its website section on concerns and bribery reports for access and additional information.
