The National Bank of Moldova reported that Deputy First Governor Petru Rotaru participated in the presentation of Moldova’s national risk assessment report on money laundering and terrorist financing. The report, developed through a joint effort involving state institutions including the National Bank in areas it supervises, provides an updated analysis of risks and vulnerabilities and sets directions for strengthening the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) framework. The event was organised by the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering Service with support from the Council of Europe and brought together national authorities, international partners and the financial sector. Rotaru emphasised the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and harmonising the national framework with European and international AML/CFT standards, including to modernise and improve supervisory processes. Participants reviewed the report’s conclusions in detail and discussed next steps to strengthen institutional capacity and the legal framework for AML/CFT.
