The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) published an interim report summarizing a workshop it co-hosted with the Global Risk Institute (GRI) on financial well-being and consumer protection, focusing on opportunities and emerging risks from artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in financial services. Held on November 13, 2025, the workshop covered best practices for using AI to empower and protect financial consumers and considered the path forward for AI in Canada’s financial services sector. More than 55 representatives attended, including participants from large banks and technology companies, consumer advocacy groups, law firms, and academia, and the session formed the fourth workshop in the second Financial Industry Forum on Artificial Intelligence (FIFAI II). A full report covering outcomes across all four FIFAI II workshops is expected in spring 2026.
