The Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina reported that its Ombudswoman for the Banking System, Lejla Smajović, participated as a panellist at a discussion hosted by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tuzla on the integration of financial education into the formal education system. The panel brought together experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region to discuss the importance and challenges of introducing financial education and to propose ways to improve financial literacy. Smajović outlined financial literacy activities undertaken through her work, largely via planned direct cooperation with primary, secondary and higher-education institutions, and cited examples of citizens’ complaints about financial services to underline the role of timely financial education as a preventive tool and a means of protecting consumers in the banking sector, including through systematic inclusion in education systems.
