The Central Bank of Montenegro, alongside the Ministry of Finance, met with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C. and agreed a new phase of cooperation centred on sustainable financing and digital financial services, linked to the World Bank Partnership Framework for Montenegro 2025–2029. Priorities set out by Governor Irena Radovic included implementing the National Roadmap for Sustainable Financing with international partners such as the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network, UN SSE, UNEP FI and the IFRS Foundation, integrating Montenegrin banks into the IFC Climate Finance Program supported by the European Commission, and supporting digital financial services through standardising a national QR code and developing a regulatory framework for fintech innovations. The Ministry of Finance also highlighted IFC support on strengthening the regulatory framework and ensuring a transparent process for awarding the airports concession, alongside discussions on future tourism and infrastructure projects. Cooperation is expected to progress through joint initiatives under the 2025–2029 partnership framework, with a continued focus on sustainable finance, digital financial services and economic resilience.
