The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs’ ranking member, Senator Elizabeth Warren, sent a letter to President Trump’s nominee to chair the Federal Reserve, Kevin Warsh, seeking information about reports that his name appears in materials the Department of Justice released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The letter frames the request as necessary for the public to understand the extent of any interactions or relationship Warsh may have had with Jeffrey Epstein ahead of Warsh’s nomination hearing. Warren cited reports that Warsh and his wife “appear in a list shared with Epstein titled ‘St. Barth’s Christmas 2010,’” and that Warsh’s name appears in a September 16, 2010 email forwarded by Lesley Groff to Epstein that included a “list of people peggy invited to Wall Street,” referencing “Ms. Jane Lauder (Kevin Warsh).” The letter requests detailed responses by March 31, 2026. The release also notes that, in the prior month, Warren and other Banking Committee Democrats urged Chairman Tim Scott to delay Warsh’s nomination hearing until investigations they described as pretextual against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook are closed.
