Isle of Man Treasury, with Home Affairs, published enforcement figures showing that more than GBP 154,000 in suspected criminal cash proceeds and more than GBP 880,000 worth of drugs have been seized at the Island’s airport and sea terminal since July 2024, based on combined Police and Customs activity. The assets were found through stop searches of individuals and checks on incoming and outgoing goods, including items concealed in vehicles, parcels and freight. Most drug seizures related to cannabis or cocaine, with some cases involving steroids or prescription drugs, and single seizures valued between GBP 100 and GBP 220,000. Cash was seized where it was not declared, could not be reasonably accounted for, or was suspected to be linked to unlawful conduct such as drug movement; outcomes have included prosecutions, financial penalties and civil forfeiture proceedings, with some cases ongoing. The majority of seizures were made using the modernised Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) or the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA), and were framed as part of the Securing our Island Strategy and the Island Plan.
