The State Bank of Pakistan, working with GIZ Pakistan on a programme financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, has launched the Paris-Aligned Finance Fellowship to strengthen the financial sector’s ability to manage climate risk and align banking and investment practices with global climate standards. The initiative is intended to help financial institutions integrate climate and sustainability considerations into lending, investment and risk management, and support greater financing for clean energy, resilient infrastructure and green exports. The Fellowship targets senior professionals from the central bank, commercial banks, development finance institutions and other regulators. Fifty Fellows have been selected through nominations by their institutions, with training covering climate and financial risk management, climate stress tests, transition finance, and climate and sustainability reporting and disclosures, alongside the creation of a Community of Practice to advance climate finance. The programme is scheduled to run from 13 to 17 October 2025, starting with a Foundation Track in Karachi and an Expert Track in Germany.
